Whistle while you work
So it seems the best way to gain orders is by working full time, catch 22 if ever I heard one. These little beauties were 2 separate orders for my work, and I don't mean my work as a cupcake legend I mean my work in HR. These are the 3rd order I have had with another on the way for December, faboosh!
Although these ones were your standard sugary buttery lovelies, I have had an influx of vegan orders recently with a new one only this morning and of course the recent re-launch of 'lush' in Aberdeen. It seems there is a shortage of vegan loving cupcakeries in the Deen and a lack of knowledge on my making them. I got in touch with the vegan society this morning to let them know to broadcast my message of rocking vegan cupcakes taking over Aberdeen, but if any of you know of someone who would love to hear about this, send them my way.
Peace out!

Finally some pro photies
Malady De Winter by Derek Moore
As you will see from my new beautiful photos by Derek Moore I finally have some presentable ones. These were taken for the new charity calendar by the Granite Garters which will be launching tomorrow evening at 'The Tunnels' in Aberdeen with a big bash featuring Maggie's Cupcakes and I would imagine lots of naked women, burlesque that is. Great to have some luscious ladies modelling my sugary delights!
On a different note I'm having a very busy week with cakes for the above, vegan wedding cakes for Ash and Michelle of 'Retro Rebels' featuring skulls, of course and 60 vegan numbers for the relaunch of Lush on Union Street. Madness or what folks, bleeding good job I got Bertha innit.

The start of something big
Well it has arrived, and I've called her Bertha. Yes my brand spanking new Kitchen Aid also known as my baby, has arrived. None of this ebay malarchy, brand spanking new, expensive yes, but an investment, think how many cakes I can make with this little beauty, especially when you think since starting my wee venture I have gone through 4 electric hand whisks. Tomorrow morning I will make my first batch of cakes with Bertha's help and I can't wait!!!
In other cupcake news, I have my 2nd wedding consultation tomorrow with another sample box of cuties to try and another 1 on the way. I'm also doing vegan wedding cupcakes in black and red with skulls, yes you heard it right, looking forward to that one. I'm also hopefully about to pick up a 50th with 50 cupcakes for early December and next week I've got this event (see below) with the Granite Garters in need of Charity, cupcakes and breasts always a good combination, so if you fancy a wee sample of the cupcakes that is, pop along and say howdy, peace out!

The cupcake tourist
This weekend saw Ms Maggie and her man go on a little road trip to Perth in search of a tattoo parlour and a cupcakery. The first visit was to Inkredible Kreations my favourite tattoo artist where I had planned to book my new cupcake themed tattoo, to find out they are booked until late next year!!! The second however was much more successful, a visit to a cupcakery aptly named 'Cupcakes'.
I love visiting cupcake bakeries to see how they do it and collect ideas for my future dream bakery. 'Cupcakes' was lovely and cosy with very friendly staff who humoured my incessant cupcake ramblings. The cafe served soups and sandwiches and a few cakes, as well as about 4 different cupcakes, with a guest cupcake alternated daily. So here is their very special Halloween cupcake which I was rather impressed by. To give it a proper critique, I found the sponge a little firm compared to my own, I do like a fluffy sponge, however this was well compensated by their delightful icing made with a butter icing and butter I haven't tasted, I really must get in touch with them and ask which one. I do tend to see 'cupcakes' which are really a fairy cake size rather than big American style cupcakes but after seeing the amount of decor on top of this particular little beauty I think that can be forgiven.
If you have a cupcakery near you that you think I really must try then get in touch, my boyfriend might not thank you for dragging him round the country but I certainly will.

Taking wedding bookings for next year
If your thinking about your wedding for next year let me know some of your ideas and I can pop along with a box of treats for you to sample. Prices include delivery and set up on the day, the initial consultation and a final consultation just before the wedding if you choose, as well as the stand hire. If your needing an idea of prices drop me a line and I can advise.
You will see this posting isn't quite as hilarious and witty as normal, thought it important to be professional when discussing weddings, as you do. Next one will have you rolling about in laughter.

Busy week in the life of a cupcake
Well it has been a busy ol' week in the world of cupcakes. Not only am I holding down a full time job but I've got orders coming out of my ears. Completed my first offcially gluten free order for a 70th, a 70 year old celiac grandma, hope she likes them. Produced a batch of halloween delights for the halloween window display at Retro Rebels on George Street, Aberdeen. Michelle and Ash that run retro's have become my number 1 fanbase in Aberdeen and have helped spread the gospel of Maggie far and wide. Also whipped up a very colourful batch of cakes to take part in a photo shoot for local jewellery maker Sheena Antoinette, although I'm yet to see these photos so it could have been a clever ploy to grab a free box of cakes.
New flyers are circulting Aberdeen with links to the website, although unfortunately there is a very noticeable spelling mistake produced by my helpful Czech friend for free (ie stay quiet)
I will be hopefully back up and running with the internet soon and am hoping to finally get together my 'name the cupcake' competition, stay tuned

I'm back baby!
Well firstly apologies for the lack of posting, I have been somewhat disposed become a domestic goddess and moving in with my man. Try putting my 2 cats and his cat together and baking, its never gonna happen unless you want clumps of hair in them.
So I'm back and have brand new fancy pants flyers which I will be putting out across the nation, or the city centre of Aberdeen (as I'm lazy) this weekend. I will also be doing some brand new photos and am in the process of speaking with a web designer about a proper website with ordering functions and everything!!
Last week saw 'Johnny Come Lately' http://www.jclgifts.com/ have their big Alice in Wonderland event for which of course I supplied the cakes, and I have to say I was pretty chuffed with them, you could say I had a wee chufter to myself. Found out today they were also featured on another local blog, bloody famous I am. Anyway heres the link to said blog - http://storyquine.blogspot.com/2009/10/curiouser-and-curiouser-thought-alice.html and here are my pics for you to have a gander over. If anyone bought one of these little beauties or has pictures then give me a holler and I'll post them.

I'm expanding, and so are my customers waist lines
Firstly, apologies for the lack of posts over the past week as I started my new job on Monday with an Oil and Gas company and haven't stopped to take a breath. Today however I was a baking queen, producing a big ol' box of delights for 'Johnny Come Lately' the gift shop on George Street, Aberdeen and a suprise birthday box for 'Retro Rebels' the alternative fashion shop also on George Street, who turn 13 today!! Gave me a great chance to crack open my new number fondant cutters and they are awesome.
With regards to the future of Maggie's cupcakes, well we are expanding to new premises (ie my man asked me move into his gaff and its got a maseeeeve kitchen). This will mean more space to make more of a mess, bloody icing sugar covers everything. With that in mind I have several big events coming up for which I will keep you up to date so you can all attend and sample your socks off.

Another day, another electric whisk
Todays order was completed thanks to my boyfriends electric whisk, the other days, thanks to my next door neighbours. After breaking 2 of my own I have had to resort to borrowing other peoples, they just can't keep you with me! I dream of a day when I own my very own pink Kitchen Aid, half way between a pink cadillac and an industrial beast. If anyone else is in the process of starting a small business you will know that the money you make goes straight back into buying supplies as apposed to saving for important items like mixers.
My new job starts this Monday so I'm afraid there will be less gratuitous cake shots for you all, unless of course you all decide to order a ton
